Ariel by Chuck Austen
'The Little Mermaid'.

Chuck Austen was present at Eclipse Comics with the artwork of 'Alien Encounters' and 'Miracleman' in the mid-1980s. He signed this work with his birth name Chuck Beckham, which he later abandoned out of a desire to disassociate from his father's family name. Around the same time, he also drew a number of pornographic comics, such as 'Strips', 'WorldWatch' and 'Hardball'.

He was art director at Slave Labor between 1986 and 1989, and he also did artwork for 'Hero Sandwich', 'Dr. Radium' and 'Lee Flea'. He was present at DC with 'Phantom Lady' and 'Green Flame'. He drew for Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' limited series, but became best known for his scriptwriting for Marvel's 'Uncanny X-Men' and artwork on 'Elektra'. Austen was fired from Marvel in 2004, and he took a job in writing stories with 'Superman' for DC's Action Comics.

Austen is also active as a storyboard artist, director and executive producer.  He worked for Mike Judge's 'King of the Hill' (1997-2009) and was the creator of Chris Moeller and Chuck Austen's 'Tripping the Rift' (2004-2007). Austen was also assistant-director on Seth MacFarlane's 'The Cleveland Show'.
