Bill Amend is an American comic strip artist based in Kansas City, Missouri. He first started drawing cartoons for fun when he was about nine years old, in which he liked to draw frogs and dinosaurs. He studied at Amherst College and got a Bachelor's degree in physics. His professional comics debut happened on 10 April 1988, with the publication of his newspaper strip 'Foxtrot' (sometimes misspelled as 'Fox Trot'), about a typical family troubled by teenage kids and a green lizard, not to mention by the antics of husband and wife. Several anthologies of this gag comic have been published since. The daily version was dropped on 31 December 2006 and 'FoxTrot' continued as a Sunday-only feature through Universal Press Syndicate.
Bill Amend was an influence on David Gilbert and Ben Zaehringer.
